Are You Confident?

No one can give it to you..and you can’t breathe your way there.

As my friend Dave Wood likes to say, the only way to gain confidence is by “getting amongst it.”

It’s a simple formula. We develop confidence through action.. by being the person we tell ourselves we’re going to be.

I’ve heard countless clients over the years say, “I’m just not confident in a gym.”
Well, no shit, you’ve never been in a gym, so how could you possibly be confident?

After six or seven months of training a few times a week, suddenly they’re “confident.”

Yelling in the mirror and reciting a morning mantra ten times isn’t going to give you confidence.

You find confidence through taking action toward the things you say you value. The more times you prove to yourself that you’re capable, the more confidence you build internally. And that inner confidence fuels the next step, allowing you to take on even greater challenges that grow your confidence further.

A classic example: I start working with someone in health coaching, and they tell me they haven’t had confidence for years.
As we dig deeper, they admit

“Yeah, I eat like shit, I haven’t worked out in a couple of years, and I haven’t pursued the business idea I’ve been thinking about.”

So how do they gain confidence?
By taking action.
By eating like an adult, not a child.
By moving their body, pushing the limits of what they thought they could do.
By pursuing the idea they’ve been sitting on and going after it with intensity, because now they have the vitality to do so.

Plain and simple: if you want confidence, you need to take action.
The more action you take toward the things you value, the more internal alignment you create.
That alignment builds vitality.
And that vitality feeds a cycle of confidence that grows upward: continuously.

You don’t need a self-help book, a juice cleanse, or a Tony Robbins event.
You just need to get clear on what you value…
and get amongst it.

Live. Your. Mystery.
